The questions switchers ask.

Yes, open-source Apache Kafka 4.3 running in KRaft mode, speaking the standard Kafka protocol. Your existing producers, consumers and CLI tools work unchanged.

We bill a flat plan price per cluster instead of metering ingress, egress and storage separately. You size the cluster, you see one line on the bill, and throughput within it does not generate surprise charges.

High availability adds a standby copy of your database that takes over automatically if the main one fails. It costs a fixed percentage of the plan price, from +70% depending on the database, and you see the full cost on the same single bill line before you turn it on.

One line per database: the database you chose and its size, for example Postgres 4 GB. Backups, networking, traffic and monitoring are already inside that price, there is no separate fee for any of them. If you turn on high availability, it adds a fixed percentage to that same line. The only extra line you can ever see is more storage, at a flat price per GB.

Kafka is private-network only by design: clients connect over the private fabric or a one-click private link from your Raff services, never the open internet. Exposing Kafka publicly is an anti-pattern, so unlike our other databases there is no public endpoint. Producers and consumers authenticate with SCRAM credentials over TLS.
